Phase Change Material
Phase Change Material is essentially a thermal mass that releases and absorbs heat as needed. The premise of ice in an ice chest is the premise of phase change material installed in a semi trailer or cold storage facility. Just as ice keeps your drinks cold in your ice chest until the ice melts, phase change material keeps your trailers and storage facilities cold until the phase change material melts.
